DELL

Our team, was able to tour one of Dell’s facilities in Round Rock. There, some of the workers who specialized in CAD, software, marketing and hardware, gave us lessons on how each of the subsets work together as a team and rely on each other.
They showed us samples of their works and explained how they built hardware pieces, code and even showed us a short tutorial on how to CAD.

We were also given the gracious opportunity to tour Amazon’s Fulfillment Facility in San Marcos to learn and observe how their robots function and what components of hardware, CAD and software play into creating such functional mechanisms.
We want to use the knowledge we retained during the tour to help us in our second robot design.

Our FTC robotics team, partnered up with our school's (Canyon Ridge Middle School) National Junior Honor Society (NJHS), and planned an event in our gym, where we had set up tables and presentations to teach elementary students about STEM and FIRST. We wanted to expose it to the kids at a young age to influence and inspire them to be more involved with STEM and FIRST as they grow older.

Hardware gave a short lesson on the different materials of hardware (REV bars, mecanum wheels etc.) and then allowed the elementary students to drive our troll bot.

Software explained what java was and how it's different from drag and drop which was used in FLL.

Marketing gave a short presentation on how to properly market/advertise. Then they gave them a little quiz asking them to identify the examples of good and bad ways to advertise. After that, they gave sheets of paper, telling them to make a poster asking people to donate money to those affected by Hurricane Michael (this was a way for the elementary students to practice their advertising skills.)
